“Sure, I can do that for you. Yes, just give me a few days.” I bustle about my kitchen chatting promises to a friend. I’m a spinning top of activity while the cupboards blur around me. Then something strange catches my eye out the kitchen window. The bird house atop a lodge pole is pink. “Say what?” I breathe into the phone. The jasmine draped trellis lights up like a diva on stage. A rosy hue illuminates the entire backyard.
“I’ve got to go.” I blurt. I bolt for my camera, swing open the backdoor, and rush out and onto the grass. “Magical,” I whisper.
The setting sun castes magenta across an azure sky. Like a dancer on stage, I flutter and swirl towards the spotlight’s next focus. I snap picture before she fades, this cotton candy sky.
Popcorn cherry blossoms burst onto a canvas of pink.
The clouds are so pink that I’m sure they must be sweet. Like a wild-eyed child watching cotton candy swirl onto a stick. I thrust my hand into the heavens and roll them onto my pen so I can taste them on paper.
In this moment, I want goodness, and beauty, and truth. In a world gone mad, I long for what is pure. Ribbons of blue, fuchsia, and purple grasp hands with spring breezes and rush through my senses. I feel alive, just my camera, me, and these cotton candy skies.
Have you ever had the desire for something wholesome and then it appears in the most unexpected way?
